Hello Brighton High School Community:

I hope everyone had a safe, healthy, and restful vacation week. Now that the Governor has decided to keep schools closed for the remainder of the year, schools are required to adjust their weekly online learning schedules to increase opportunities for both synchronous and asynchronous learning.

As a result, we will be starting a new schedule on Monday, May 4th. We are excited to launch this new schedule because we believe it will provide students with more opportunities to learn and to stay connected to their teachers and peers.

The new schedule is located on the Brighton High website under the “Online Learning” tab. All students will be expected to attend a live class for each period on their schedule 1x each week. In the second half of the week, students will have the option to attend “Office Hours” for extra help on their weekly assignments.

Also on our website is a list of all of our Online Classrooms. Students can click the appropriate link to take them to each online classroom. Teachers will also share this information with students directly in their google classrooms.

In the remaining weeks of school, teachers will focus on the most important standards and skills students need in order to advance to their new classes next year. It is important that students remain engaged and connected with the community until the end of the year so they continue to make progress academically. It is also important to stay connected so we can provide whatever support students may need, whether it be academic, emotional, or something else.

The Brighton High Team is here for you always. Do not hesitate to ask for help when you need it.

Finally, I know that seniors have many questions about graduation and end of year events. I will provide another video and update soon with information that is specifically for seniors. We really appreciate your patience during this time of uncertainty. We know it is not easy.

Please reach out to any staff member at BHS if you have any questions about the new schedule that starts next week.

Sincerely,

Mr. Rametti

Sinceramente,

Senor Rametti

Dear Brighton High Families,

As you likely know by now, the Boston Public Schools is closing all schools from March 17 to April 27, 2020. This means that Brighton High school is CLOSED effective Tuesday. This means there are no students on campus, no activities will take place in the building, and no teaching staff will be reporting to the office. However, we will be supporting at home learning with paper and computer-based lessons and activities.

Beginning Monday, March 22, daily web-based materials will be available for students on Google Classroom. This means that students will receive daily lessons, assignments, and videos from their teachers. In addition, teachers will be holding class discussions and individual help time through Google Classroom. Your student’s Google Classroom can be accessed at classroom.google.com using their BPS email and password. Learn how to login by checking out our guides below!

Additionally, more learning apps can be found in Clever, a “portal” with apps used by your student’s school or classroom teacher(s). Your student’s Clever portal can be accessed at www.bostonpublicschools.org/backpack using their BPS email and password. Need more support? Check out the docs below!

Any additional questions about digital learning? Visit the Digital Learning Resources website for more information.

Social Emotional Support

Be mindful that children sense our emotions and need adults to establish a sense of calm.  Do something together as a family outside such as taking a walk or playing a game. Use age-appropriate language and talk with your children about the day out of school as a time for the building to be cleaned and ready for their return. Refer to this letter from Dr. Cassellius, Talking to Students about COVID-19, for further guidance.

The best way to contact the school during this time is to contact a member of the Brighton High Leadership Team below:

Contact the OIIT Help Desk by email, phone, or G chat if you have questions or concerns about continued learning:

Help Desk Phone Number: 617-635-9200

Email Help Desk: Technology@bostonpublicschools.org

Thank you for supporting your children’s learning as we navigate this challenge as a community.

We are here to support you in any way we can.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Rametti
